A shining star...

Rika is the only child to Sakamuri no Hiroji, a blacksmith and weapons specialist local to Kugane and Sakamuri no Aimi, a priestess of the harvest born in Sui no Sato.Given her father's station and comfortable position within Kugane proper, Rika grew up on the palace grounds with the other high-born nobles, but unlike the other high-born and blue blood, Rika had been a complicated pregnancy that nearly took her mother's life.As such the majority of her youth was spent with reminders almost on the bell that she was small, runty and otherwise too sickly to perform basic tasks. She wanted to prove them wrong and in doing so locked herself away with books.This didn't stop the bullying, but it did prepare her for it. Soon the bright, spry, sassy, young lady broke into physical altercations, some far more serious than others.This scrappy nature all came to a head with the brutal mauling of another noble's firstborn son, the act was seen as a disgrace to her family and the young woman was sent away to boarding school.She doesn't speak of what happened at the school, but all light, love and life left her there leaving only a shallow husk of a woman.

Radiant...

Upon her return to Hingashi, Rika, now less than a shadow of her former self, sought only one thing. She desired above all else to be written of in the tomes and volumes of her people, to be seen as a military mind likened to those who paved the way for their prosperity in blood and bone.This desire, much like her stature in youth, was laughed at and mocked. How could a noble woman so removed from the fires of combat possibly hope to be more? The mockery left her to seek new horizons, and to Doma she did go where she happened upon Clan Kotodama.The clan bore a xaela at the head, and a rather lackadaisical man at that. His was a curious mind, to put people in positions where they might back their word with deeds, and back it she did. Her meticulous planning situated her at the forefront of the clan's efforts to secure a heading while on the Ghimlyt front.There were none that bore witness to her that day who could refute the prowess and skill she led with and in so doing earned her station as Bugyo, a title she wears with no small measure of pride, a polite snub at the courts of Hingahsi who saw fit to dismiss her.With Clan Kotodama taken to a lull in their activities Rika has joined alongside one who bore witness to the sheer terrifying command she possessed and now works alongside Foster Arjerm as a logistical officer for The Fury's Gaze, least until Kotodama hungers for war once more.

Hooks

Eastern:

Hingashi is her home and Rika puts a great deal of effort into the betterment of it despite the fact her obligations might sometimes take her elsewhere. If you have need of her in an eastern narrative she will provide as best she can.

Military:

Given her station as Bugyo there is no small measure of reach that she might provide or work with. She is more readily applied to combat narratives where she might perform her duties as a tactician though.

Smithing:

Rika and her father head one of the largest steel manufactories in Kugane, with a twist. Their specialty is aetheric conductivity which makes casting and raw invocations of aether far easier to manage.

Training:

Being an adept duelist has its perks, mainly that while she has seen to the training of a few students, Rika would like more. Her combat style is not too dissimilar to that of a red mage but with a few key differences.

Ken'ichi

A red mage by trade and kind hearted man by nature, Ken'ichi is rather prone to fumble with his tongue versus his intent and that caused some grating exchanges in the earlier days of their friendship.Now though there's seldom a moment they are made to share that sees the woman's shy heart stilled. It's no question at all that the woman views her husband fondly.

Esmond

Much like Julius, Esmond had started his journey alongside Rika as student. Esmond's training was seen as a necessity by the raen but for vastly different reasons than her previous pupil.Though a student no more, the two have remained close allies, but should any ask the pale raen, she most readily speaks of the elezen as her best friend.

Foster

While both served within the Ghimlyt Dark warfront, the two only came to learn of their unintended comradery after the dust had settled when Rika was on contract with another agency in Ishgard.She has since come into Foster's employ and finds kinship with the man in many ways.

Julius

He happened across Rika in Ishgard where she took a personal interest in his aetherical development. Derived from a curious intent, she saw the man trained and later gifted him a blade crafted by her own hand.Julius returned her kindness with some of his own, offering the woman a stout shoulder to lean on in times of strife.

Kaneyori

An unfortunate man with a brighter future, Kaneyori was tasked with Rika's assassination, but those efforts were met with failure. As their Hingan ancestry might demand Rika gave him a difficult choice.Having been unable to take his own life as recompense for his failure he now serves Rika as a personal retainer.
